YAHUKIMO - In the heart of Papua’s highlands, far from the buzz of urban life, the Indonesian Border Security Task Force PNG Mobile Battalion 1 Marines is quietly building bridges that transcend uniforms and borders. Through community outreach programs conducted on Friday (July 11, 2025), the Marines are fostering human connections that reflect a deep commitment to peace, unity, and shared progress.

Led by personnel from TK Kotis, the outreach is more than a routine patrol. It’s a heartfelt initiative designed to strengthen bonds between TNI personnel and the people they serve, particularly in the remote Dekai District of Yahukimo Regency. These engagements allow the Task Force to better understand local conditions, listen to community concerns, and offer meaningful support where it’s most needed.

“This isn’t just about presence it’s about empathy, ” said Marine Lt. Col. Siswanto, Commander of the Task Force.

“Our goal is to win the hearts of the people, to listen, and to help ease their everyday struggles. The closer we are to the community, the stronger and more united we become.”

The activities carried out include informal dialogues, assistance to local families, and supportive interaction with children and elders alike demonstrating the Marine Corps' genuine dedication to community harmony.

Major General Lucky Avianto, Commander of the Habema Operations Command, emphasized the long-term vision behind such outreach:

“This isn’t just about building good relations today. It’s about shaping a better tomorrow. Together, we can overcome every obstacle and realize a peaceful, prosperous Papua.”

This initiative, rooted in humility and human connection, showcases the evolving face of TNI’s approach to territorial security—one that values communication over command, compassion over confrontation.

The PNG Mobile Battalion 1 Marines continue to prove that national defense is not just about securing borders, but about safeguarding the trust and well-being of the people who live within them.
