PAPUA - In a heartwarming display of community spirit, the residents of Tomon Village in Yahukimo Regency, Papua, warmly welcomed the Social Communication (Komsos) activity carried out by personnel from the PJPR Post of the RI PNG Mobile Border Security Task Force, Yonif 1 Marines. This engagement, part of the broader HABEMA Operations Command focused on border security in Papua Pegunungan, was held on Monday, June 2, 2025, with the goal of not only ensuring security but also fostering closer ties between the military and the local community.

Beyond their regular duties, the Marines took the opportunity to interact with residents, offering support, assistance, and gathering information about the ongoing developments in the area. One grateful resident shared his appreciation: “Thank you, Mr. Marines, for your help. God willing, the situation in your Sukamu area is safe.” His words reflect the sense of trust and comfort the Marines’ presence has brought to the region.

Lieutenant Colonel Siswanto, Commander of the Yonif 1 Marines Task Force, emphasized the importance of recognizing and addressing the basic needs of the community, saying, *“We are using this moment to provide tangible support to the community through genuine territorial activities.”* This approach underscores the Marines’ commitment to enhancing both security and community welfare.

The effort aligns with the strategic vision of Pangkoops Habema Maj. Gen. TNI Lucky Avianto, who highlighted the dual impact of the initiative: not only enhancing border security but also deepening the bond between the military and the Papuan people. The presence and active involvement of Yonif 1 Marines serve as a vital step toward realizing a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Papua.

With such unwavering dedication, the Marines continue to build hope for a better future in Papua, reinforcing the belief that peace and progress are within reach.
