PAPUA - Amidst the challenging terrain of Papua’s highlands, soldiers from Task Force Yonif 700/WYC, operating under the Kodim Persiapan Post, carried out a meaningful outreach to the residents of Wako Village, Gome District, Central Papua, on June 27, 2025.
Led by Serka Juli, the visit was part of the Task Force’s ongoing territorial and social communication (Komsos) program, aimed at strengthening bonds with local communities. In addition to maintaining security, the soldiers brought with them something even more valuable compassion and solidarity.
During the visit, the team provided basic food supplies directly to Mr. Hitaru Tabuni, a respected youth leader in Wako Village. The simple act of delivering assistance reflected a deeper mission.
“This is more than just distributing aid. It’s a symbol of our commitment and care for our brothers and sisters in Papua. Defending the nation isn’t just about holding weapons; it’s also about holding on to the hopes of the people, ” said Second Lieutenant Inf Herman, Commander of the Kodim Persiapan Post.
The response from the villagers was overwhelmingly warm and grateful. In an area where access to basic needs is often limited, the presence of TNI soldiers offering tangible support was more than assistance it was a sign of lasting commitment.
This initiative reflects how the TNI continues to play an essential role not only in safeguarding territorial integrity but also in supporting the welfare of remote communities. Here, the true measure of strength isn’t just in overcoming rugged terrain, but in the ability to uplift and care for others.
