INTAN JAYA - In the remote highlands of Papua, where daily life is often shaped by challenges and limited access, soldiers from Task Force Yonif 400/Banteng Raider – Pos Dal are making a difference not only through security operations, but also through tangible acts of compassion.

On August 2, 2025, the troops initiated a simple yet powerful gesture purchasing local agricultural produce directly from farmers in their foster village. More than a routine transaction, the effort became a bridge of trust, hope, and solidarity between the military and the people they serve.

Empowering Farmers Through Fair Trade

Armed not with rifles, but with empathy, the soldiers approached farmers selling fresh vegetables, tubers, and fruits buying their produce at fair prices while engaging in heartfelt conversations. Laughter filled the air as locals and troops shared stories under the warm Papuan sun.

“This is about showing appreciation for the farmers’ hard work, ” said the Dal Post Commander. “It’s also an opportunity to hear their concerns and support them in ways that matter.”

This direct approach helped build stronger community ties and reinforced the soldiers' role not just as protectors, but as partners in local development.

A Community-Focused Military Presence

The initiative was warmly received by residents, many of whom expressed gratitude for the soldiers' kindness. In areas where economic opportunities are scarce, this type of engagement brings more than financial relief it brings validation, dignity, and human connection.

“The smiles we saw today are priceless, ” one soldier remarked. “That alone is worth more than anything we could give.”

Support from TNI High Command: "Not Just Security, But Solidarity"

Commander of Habema Joint Operations Command, Maj. Gen. Lucky Avianto, praised the initiative as a reflection of the TNI’s evolving mission in Papua:

“Our presence here goes beyond guarding sovereignty. We are here to bring solutions, build trust, and grow hope. These are the foundations of lasting peace, ” he said.

Maj. Gen. Avianto emphasized that such grassroots engagement is key to strengthening civil-military relations and fostering resilience within local communities.

A New Chapter of Service in Papua

This seemingly small act buying vegetables from local farmers marks a larger shift in how the TNI Task Force views its role. By extending hands of compassion alongside their military duties, the soldiers of Yonif 400/Banteng Raider are building more than security they’re building a shared future.
