INTAN JAYA - As the cool morning breeze swept through Bilogai Village in Sugapa District, a different kind of warmth emerged one not from the sun, but from the shared smiles, laughter, and genuine care between TNI soldiers and the local community. Sunday, June 22, 2025.

The RI-PNG Mobile Border Security Task Force Yonif 500/Sikatan, led by Second Lieutenant Inf. Reynaldo Lubis, carried out a Social Communication (Komsos) activity an initiative focused not only on strengthening bonds with local residents, but also on providing essential health services and promoting clean, healthy living habits.

Accompanied by nine of his fellow soldiers, Lt. Lubis and his team brought more than just uniforms and duty they brought empathy, kindness, and heartfelt connection. Under the shade of a simple canopy, parents chatted warmly with TNI members over hot drinks, while children sat curiously on laps, engaging with the soldiers with wide-eyed wonder.

“We are here not just as soldiers, but as brothers to the people of Papua, ” Lt. Lubis shared. “Through this Komsos activity, we want our presence to be felt not through force, but through friendship and shared humanity.”

During the event, soldiers offered basic health check-ups, distributed vitamins, and delivered education sessions on personal and environmental hygiene all in a setting marked by peace, comfort, and community spirit.

Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Danang Rahmayanto, Commander of Task Force Yonif 500/Sikatan, expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception of the villagers.

“These activities are a true reflection of the TNI’s ongoing commitment to be a real part of the community, especially in the remote heart of Papua, ” said Lt. Col. Danang. “We believe that peace and prosperity are built not just through defense, but through heartfelt connection.”

Photographs captured during the activity portray a powerful story of uniforms blending with laughter, of hands extended in service, and of a bridge being built across cultures and challenges.

In a land often misunderstood by the outside world, this event stands as a living testament that peace in Papua is not a slogan but a daily mission of compassion and trust-building.
